Mary Doveston

Mary has taught in all phases of education and was a Special Needs Co-ordinator in a primary school before joining Northamptonshire County Council as Specialist Teacher advising and supporting schools on teaching and support of pupils with SEN. She teaches on the MA in Education programme, the OCR Dyslexia course and undergraduate courses for teachers and teaching assistants at the University of Northampton. She has researched, presented and published papers in the field of emotional and social aspects of learning and the role and impact of learning mentors in schools. Mary manages a ‘Research and Development’ project supported by the TDA: ‘improving group dynamics to support learning and social inclusion: developing and enhancing CPD tutor capacity’. She is currently involved in a comparative research study with Sheena Bell from University of Northampton & Dr Therese McPhillips from St Patrick’s College Dublin into the education of learners with dyslexia.
